Kindle and a "Redefining Home" Giveaway

Ok, it's giveaway time. In honor of the Kindle rolling out my e-book this week (I love the irony that the e-book tagged in at last place in getting the book published), I'm giving you some love from the motherland. You'll get a China Starbucks mug, a Mexican Vanilla candle from Johnston Family Farms, fresh Jasmine Tea and a copy of "Redefining Home" (either Kindle or paperback).

If you:

Facebook about the book,

Tweet it,

post it on your blog,

subscribe to this blog,

comment on this here post,

tell your grandmother's craft circle,

or if you have done any of these since the book came out, then that's an entry.

Each time you do one of the above, tell me in a comment on this blog post, and you will get your name thrown into a box. So telling your grandma AND Facebook means two entries and you can just stick those both in one comment. Are you trackin' with me here? This really isn't hard, but to make this feel official I need to make the instructions complicated.

The Giveaway will end on March 21st at midnight ET, so start procrastinating on other things and get yourself entered to win.

By the way: if you don't have a Kindle, you can get the Kindle app for free! You can also follow along at @carrieahudson on Twitter or Carrie Anne Hudson on Facebook.

    1. Alina-So, in between packing, saying good-bye, doing laundry and homeschooling, you can read. Maybe it will be a good excuse to procrastinate?

I'm off to cross my fingers...not that I believe in that sort of thing...but, you know what I mean. And just because I am so not cool, I'll need the paperback version of your book should I win. Kindle who? :)

  19. Oh my goodness! I ordered your book the second I found out about it...can't for the life of me remember now how I even found your blog, but I think it was through another American family living in China. Anyway, it came RIGHT before we had to head to Duke for our youngest daughter's open heart surgery. She was born in Guiyang, Guizhou in 2008 and adopted in late October 2010. Anyway, I literally laughed OUT loud in the CPICU (cardiac pediatric intensive care unit) which drew some sharp looks and furrowed brows from the nurses. Ooops. Hey, my daughter was medically sedated and sleeping so what else was I supposed to do for Hours and hours and HOURS on end?! I loved the book. As in BIG PUFFY HEART LOVE! It made me laugh and cry but mostly laugh :) It brought back SO many memories of our times in China. So far we have been to Beijing, Hohhot Inner Mongola, Guiyang Guizhou, and both Guangzhou and Shenzen, which I think are in Guangdong Province. We have also been in Hong Kong but that is a WHOLE 'nother ball of wax ;) I even read (QUIETLY!!) aloud to my husband some of your book to pass the time. He laughed out loud too. The nurses frowned at us frequently. I thought at one point we might get kicked OUT of the CPICU. (that would have been shameful!) When the book ended I was like, "noooooooooooooooooooo!!" I just loved it. I loved how it was all over the place so just when I was about to bawl, the next little jaunt took me to a happy place. I could see that older Chinese man doing the Michael Jackson moves in my mind :) Ah China. There is no place like you :) I laughed in a line of oh 300 people the night before we left for surgery, my 14 yr old daughter and I went to a used clothing sale for children in town. It was packed! but people lined up and waited forever....the check out line was an HOUR long. And I laughed imagining how it would have looked in China..the shoving :) I was tempted to give it a try but I didn't ;) I loved your insights about how the love of Chinese parents looks different and how we shouldn't be so quick to judge just because things are done differently. I really struggle with the thought process that the American ways are right or better. Thanks for that! We will be traveling again relatively soon to China...to the big Western province of Xinjiang :) That will be a new experience to add to our archives :) Thanks again for sharing a part of your life with the world and letting us see China and Jesus through your eyes. If only the parasite issue wasn't an issue...ugh! But if we do indeed end up residing in China down the road, I am going to become a vegetarian and boil EVERYTHING. Mmmkay! ;) PS my daughter is coming HOME today!!! Thank You Lord!

    1. Holly-

We prayed for you guys this morning after breakfast and are rejoicing that your daughter comes home today! It sounds like it's been a long road for you guys. Would you be open to writing up a quick review on Amazon? I would love for others to get to read your testimony about reading it. Your testimony about the book brought me a ton of joy today. Humbled that I could bring a smile in the midst of all that you have going on.

(The account is used for friends who are adoptive parents or interested in adoption or involved in orphan care in some way) Hope it brings you many more orders :) Thanks for praying for our sweet little girl. I don't have a blog currently for many reasons but would be glad to send you a family photo if I can find an email address for you :)
